SHORT TERM COMMITMENTS - TWO WEEK READING PLANS 29-41

Of all the reasons people mention for not reading the Bible, simple discouragement ranks highest. The Bible’s length alone is imposing; it is more like a self-contained library than a book. It includes sixty-six different books, by several dozen authors; it’s little wonder why people get confused and discouraged. These reading plans help break the Bible into more manageable portions. This is a place to begin reading the Bible. With 1189 chapters in the Bible, why begin with these? First, they are frequently quoted or referenced elsewhere. Second, they are relatively easy to read and understand.

Tips on Reading the Bible Daily
1. Start reading the Bible today -- there is no better time, and there's no reason to wait. Set aside a specific time each day. Set your schedule and then stick to it. Mornings are great, but feel free to use any time that works consistently for you.
2. Read the Bible for the sake of learning, not simply to accomplish your next reading. Say a short prayer to God before you begin, asking the Holy Spirit to give you wisdom and understanding, then be refreshed by the words you read!
3. Highlight verses, take notes and bookmark your Bible!
